Confessions of a Theist...

Hello! This blog is intended as a response to militant and aggressive atheism.

I have no problem with atheism per se; believe what you want to believe...BUT...I am concerned and angry that militant atheists and secularists have become more aggressive in their criticisms and attacks on my faith.

As a Catholic, I follow my faith seriously but in my 50+ years of life, I have made no attempt to "convert" anyone to Catholicsm or Christianity. During all that time, I had a "live and let live" attitude with those that did not share my faith. As a libertarian, I still have that attitude.

I have friends and clients that are atheists and agnostics and I respect their views and they respect my views. It would certainly bother me if an aggressive theist tried to force them to change their views. It is, however, a two-way street.

I can only hope and pray that the friendly and benign non-believers of this world can turn to their more aggressive brethren and say "relax! it's OK. Live and let live".

For me this blog is not an attack...it is a defense of my faith. At a basic level, belief in God is every bit as legitimate as a disbelief in God. Those among us that believe in God should be strong and stand up for their faith. We should pray for those that disagree that they be open-minded to God while we should take their criticsm to help us understand why we believe what we believe.

Keep in mind that...as a libertarian...I believe in voluntary and peaceful transactions. For atheists and theists alike, this means that persuasion is OK but coercion is wrong. Obviously, I am biased toward theism so I hope and pray that my communication, logic and reasoning while help the non-theists among us to have a "change of heart". At a minimum, I pray that aggressive anti-theists adopt a "live and let live" attitude toward my faith.

Thank you for letting me share my thoughts and I hope that this blog has a postive effect on all that visit these pages...
